Welcome To BreadSong

Started by Hans & April Hess, and located in the Carmel Crossroads at the gateway to Big Sur, BreadSong is where our passion for sourdough meets flavor and BreadSong is the Monterey Peninsula's destination for artisanal sandwiches. 

People tend to think of sourdough as a bread, but it's really a method that pays close attention to the development of flavor. That "sourdough" idea runs through everything we do, from our doughnuts fried in duck fat to sourdough bread and rolls baked each morning, to house roasted Wagyu beef sandwiches and really, everything we make. It's all prepared from raw ingredients on site. We even press fresh OJ each day and roast our own coffee beans in house. 

This approach shows up as unique flavor and mouthfeel that you won't find anywhere else. It's what has made us a favorite deli for locals and visitors who want to stay and enjoy our patio or steakhouse dining room, or take food to go on backpacking trips and picnic lunches in Big Sur and beaches and trails around Carmel.
